About The Artist Geo. W. Proctor
A writer by trade, I am a native Texan with a lifelong love of art. Although,
I have no formal training, I began teaching myself as a child by copying superheroes from the
pages of funny books (yes, I'm old enough to still call comics funny books). During the 1970s,
I was lucky enough to become friends with the artists in a place called The Sketch Pad, the
studio of well-known artist and illustrator Don Ivan Punchatz. With Don's encouragement I
began to paint and eventually sold a cover for an early issue of the magazine Heavy Metal
as well as a couple other paintings. My art career was far from impressive. I stopped painting
in 1981 and, other than doodling, shied from art until discovering Caligari's TrueSpace 2 program late
in 1995. Within a few days I was turning out electronic images for the fun of it and continue
to do so.

As mentioned above, writing is my profession. Since 1972, I have written a string of novels under
my byline as well as numerous pen names. My two most recently published efforts Before
Honor and Blood Of My Blood, Bantam Books, were among the three finalists for the Western Writers Of
America's Spur Award for best novel of the year in their respective categories of Hardback and
Paperback publications.

Model Kits
For those who enjoy building plastic model kits, I would suggest contacting a local hobby
store and inquirying about Glencoe Models. This company presently has re-issued many of
the Wernher von Braun space kits of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Included in their line
are the Nuclear Powered Space Station (the Wheel), Retriever Rocket, Lunar Lander, and 3-Stage
Ferry Rocket. Glencoe also plans to re-issue other space kits of this era.
While in that hobby store check on other model companies who are re-issuing old space kits
such as Monogram's Willy Ley's Space Taxi.
On the high end of model kits, Icarus Designs, 2203 Wrocklage Avenue, Louisville, KY 40205 USA,
is presently designing a white resin kit of von Braun's Bottle Space Suit. For information and ordering, write to the above address or e-mail
icarus@iglou.com. Below is a photo of the interior of the model
Icarus Designs sent along as a teaser.
